Vaccine reduces hospitalization chances by 75 to 80 percent: NITI Ayog

If people who have been vaccinated are infected with the coronavirus, their chances of being admitted to the hospital are reduced by 75 to 80%. Also, the chance of them needing oxygen is 8% and the need to be admitted to the ICU remains only 6%. NITI Aayog member Dr. VK Paul gave this information in a press conference on the situation of Corona on Friday. He made this claim on the basis of several studies.

He said that in rural areas, the seropositivity rate is 56% in people below 18 years of age and 63% in people above 18 years of age. This information suggests that the children were infected with corona, but its effect was very mild. Even in the third wave, only a few cases of infection are expected to be reported in children.

At the same time, the WHO-AIIMS survey has shown that seropositivity is almost equal in people below 18 years and above. It has been reported to be 67% in people over the age of 18 and 59% in those under the age of 18. In urban areas it is 79% and 78%.

New variants will keep coming

On the mutation of the virus, Dr. Paul said that new Corona variants will keep coming and will continue to grow. There will be no change in the formula for controlling it. Before the new variant arrives, we should be prepared to avoid it.

Meanwhile, a news has also come that the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomic Consortia (INSACOG) will soon release a report on the Delta Plus variant. Government sources gave this information on Friday.

Recovery rate reached 96%

During this, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health, Luv Agarwal said that in the last 24 hours, the number of active cases has come down to 7.98 lakh. There has been a decrease of 1.14 lakh in the last 3 days. Now the recovery rate has increased to 96%.

He told that we are doing 18.4 lakh corona tests every day. In the last 24 hours, 62,480 new cases have been reported in the country. For the last 11 days, less than one lakh cases are being reported. The peak of corona cases has seen a decrease of 85%.
