Neeraj Chopra entered the field with Indian hopes in the Tokyo Olympics. The country had pinned its hope of a medal from its star javelin thrower and Neeraj fulfilled their dreams. Neeraj has scored 87.03 in the first attempt and is ranked first and never gave up the top spot. He bettered his own record with his second throw 87.58 which proved to be the Gold winning throw.

Indian Army’s Neeraj’s preparations for the Olympics were hit in 2019 by an elbow injury and then the COVID-19 pandemic but he did not disappoint his fans at all. He made it to the finals on his very first throw at the Olympics. He had competed in only three international events before the Olympics.

Abhinav Bindra who won the country’s first ever individual gold was among the few to congratulate the newly crowned Olympic champion.
