Uttarakhand government announces Rs 25 lakh cash prize to hockey player Vandana Katariya

Indian hockey player Vandana Katariya will be given Rs 25 lakh by the state government. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced this on Friday. The Chief Minister said that we are proud that Uttarakhand’s daughter Vandana has contributed immensely in the outstanding performance of the Indian women’s hockey team in the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Chief Minister said that soon a new and attractive sports policy would be implemented in the state. In this policy, there will be a provision of suitable economic incentives especially for developing international level talent among our youth.

Graphic Era will give a prize of 11 lakhs to Vandana Kataria

Graphic Era Deemed University will give a prize of Rs 11 lakh to Vandana Katariya, who has enhanced the honor of the country by performing brilliantly in the Olympics. On Friday, Rakhi Ghanshala, senior officer of Graphic Era Educational Group, reached her house in Roshnabad and handed over the manifesto to the family members for the award. She spoke to Vandana over phone and congratulated her for the historic achievement.

On reaching her house, Rakhi Ghanshala met Vandana’s mother Swarna Devi and brother Chandrashekhar Katariya and handed over the manifesto to them. She said that ‘the entire country and the state were proud of Vandana’s achievement. The 29 year year old scored four goals including a hat-trick, helping her team reach the semifinals of the Olympics. Vandana and the hockey team have shown the way forward to lakhs of women and daughters of the country’. Vandana’s brother Chandrashekhar Kataria and mother Swarna Devi welcomed the group’s initiative and expressed their gratitude for the honour.

Group President Dr. Kamal Ghanshala said that Vandana, the first Indian female hockey player to score a hat-trick in Olympics, has brought India respect all over the world despite the lack of facilities and resources. She has proved that every destination can be achieved with true dedication and hard work. On reaching India, Vandana will be greeted on behalf of the university.
