3 crores sanctioned for Laxman Jhula alternative

In order to build an alternative bridge near Rishikesh’s world famous Laxman Jhula, the state government has made financial provisions under the first phase. On Friday, the government provided administrative and financial approval of Rs.3.36 crore for construction of bridge. The new optional bridge will be of 150 meters length. PWD’s  Deputy Life Jeevan Singh released the mandate of financial approval.

The state government has already restricted movement from the old and dilapidated Laxman Jhula bridge. Following the ban on movement, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat instructed the Public Works Department to prepare alternative bridge as soon as possible.

On the directives of the Public Works Department team, the survey was carried out after terrestrial inspection. The department had submitted the primary appraisal report to the regime. On which financial sanction has been issued. Now after making financial provision, the Public Works Department will have to prepare a detailed report of the construction of the bridge. Based on this report, the government will provide financial approval for next phase.

Based on the primary survey report, the government has made financial sanction for the first phase. Now the department will prepare the DPR of the bridge construction and submit its detailed report to the government.
