Use of masks, social distancing effective in controlling spread of Covid-19 finds study

A review published on Thursday in a medical study journal said that Covid-19 protocols such as hand washing, wearing masks and maintaining social distance are effective in reducing cases of this viral disease and in addition to vaccination These should also be continued to be followed. It was told in this review that wearing a mask reduced cases of Covid-19 by 53 percent and following social distancing measures reduced cases by 25 percent.

Experts say that it is necessary to assess them further in terms of fears of negative impact on the common people of even more stringent measures, such as lockdown or borders, closure of schools and workplaces etc. to prevent the spread of infection. A team of other researchers, including those from Monash University in Australia, scoured a database of studies that examined the effectiveness of public health measures in reducing the incidence of COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2 infection and mortality.

In these, a total of 72 studies were explored, out of which 35 were analyzed in detail. It was found that wearing a mask reduced the incidence of Covid-19 by up to 53 percent and following the rule of social distance reduced the incidence of infection by 25 percent. Hand washing also reduced cases of the disease by 53 percent.
