Night curfew imposed in 8 major cities of Gujarat amidst Omicron threat

Gujarat on Monday re-imposed night curfew in eight major cities of the state till December 31 amid threat of rising cases of Omicron. According to the report of news agency ANI, night curfew has been imposed in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar and Junagadh till the end of the year i.e. till the night of 31 December 2021. The timing of night curfew will be from 1 am to 5 am.

Restaurants will open till midnight

The Gujarat government had imposed night curfew in these cities from November 1. The curfew hours were reduced by two hours between Diwali and Chhath Puja and due to the fall in the number of corona cases. After this, the government again extended the curfew for 10 more days from December 1 to December 10. Talking about the restrictions of the current night curfew, during this time, restaurants can remain open with 75% of the people till midnight. The government has also allowed home delivery and take-away services till midnight.

Omicron cases increased in Gujarat

The government urged the citizens to ensure that the COVID-19 preventive measures are strictly followed to contain the spread of COVID-19 as the cases of Omicron are increasing in the State. Four new cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus were found in Gujarat on Sunday, taking the number of people infected with the Omicron variant to 11 in the state.
