Djokovic wins case against Australia government over Visa cancellation row

The Australian government will no longer be able to deport the world’s number-1 tennis player Novak Djokovic  from the country. Djokovic has won a visa cancellation case against the Australian government. An Australian court has ordered the government to immediately release the tennis star from detention and reinstate the canceled visa. ,

The whole controversy started when Djokovic had refused to make this information public whether or not he had got the anti Covid-19 vaccine. Despite this, the organizers of the Australian Open allowed him to take part in the tournament. But after the controversy escalated, the Australian government swung into action and canceled the visa of this tennis star.

Djokovic arrived in Australia with the approval of the exemption

The Australian court’s decision comes five days after Djokovic was sent directly from Melbourne Airport to the Refugee Hotel. Actually, Djokovic had reached Melbourne from Dubai to take part in the Australian Open 2022. But he was detained at the airport itself. Djokovic’s visa was canceled as soon as he reached Australia due to non-availability of the vaccine status.

Djokovic arrived in Australia with the approval of visa and vaccination waivers to participate in the Australian Open, starting January 17. But after the approval of Prime Minister Scott Morrison government, his visa was canceled by the border officials. Officials said that Djokovic is not out of the government’s decision.

Under which the same person can enter the country, who has got the full dose of corona vaccine. However, after the decision on Monday, the way for him to play in the Australian Open has been opened. But the government has warned that it may revoke Djokovic’s visa even after the court’s decision.
