Market fails to end in green

The stock market remained in decline on the last day of the week as well. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex closed 76 points (0.13%) down at 57,200 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty fell 8 points to 17,101.

Market cap Rs 261.23 lakh crore

The market cap of the listed companies was Rs 260.32 lakh crore yesterday. Today it is Rs 261.23 lakh crore. The Sensex was up 519 points at 57,795. During the day it made an upper level of 58,084 and a low of 57,119. Its 15 shares were in gains and 15 in decline. NTPC was the biggest gainer in the stock which was up 3.89%.

Wipro and Airtel are also on the rise

Shares of Wipro, Airtel, IndusInd Bank, Sun Pharma, Titan, Infosys and Bajaj Finance were the gainers. TCS, HCL Tech, ITC were also bullish. Maruti, Bajaj Finserv, Nestle, PowerGrid, Axis Bank, Tech Mahindra, SBI and Kotak Bank were among the falling stocks.

296 stocks of Sensex are in the lower and 417 upper circuits. This means that in a day these stocks can neither fall nor rise above a certain limit. 1,365 stocks were in decline and 1991 stocks are in gain.

Nifty falls by 8 points

On the other hand, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange closed at 17,101 with a fall of 8 points. Its Next 50, Midcap, Banking and Financial indices ended lower. It had opened at 17,208. It had a low of 17,077 and an upper level of 17373. Out of its 50 stocks, 31 were in gains and 19 were in decline.

Its major falling stocks were Tech Mahindra, Power Grid, Hero Moto, Maruti. The major gainers are NTPC, ONGC, Tata Consumer and IndusInd Bank. Earlier on Thursday, the Sensex lost 581 points (1%) to 57,276 and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty fell 167 points (0.97%) to close at 17,110. There was a huge fall in the shares of all IT companies. There was a decrease of Rs 2.45 lakh crore in the market cap.
