Vaccination for 12 to 14 year olds may start from March

The government has taken a big decision in the fight against Corona. Dr. NK Arora, Chairman, COVID-19 Working Group of NTAGI informed that a major decision has been taken in the fight against COVID-19. He said on Monday that immunization of children in the age group of 12 to 14 years is likely to start from March as by then the adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 are likely to be fully immunized. Earlier, on January 3 this year, the vaccination of adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 years was started.

The first dose has been given to more than 3.45 crore adolescents

Dr. NK Arora, Chairman, National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) Covid-19 Working Group said that out of the estimated 7,40,57,000 adolescent population of 15 to 18 years, more than 3.45 crore have been given the anti-Covid vaccine so far. The first dose has been given. They have to be given a second dose in 28 days. Adolescents in this age group are showing great enthusiasm for vaccination.

Government can take a big decision

Dr. NK Arora said that in view of this pace of vaccination of adolescents, the remaining beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 years are likely to receive the first dose by the end of January. The adolescents are then expected to complete the second dose by the end of February. The government is likely to take a policy decision in March to start immunization of 12 to 14 year olds after the 15 to 18 year olds have completed their vaccination.
