Cold wave to continue in Uttarakhand till February 7; yellow alert issued

The alert issued by the Meteorological Department regarding snowfall and rain proved to be correct. Heavy rain and snowfall continued in the state. Bone chilling cold is being experienced from the hills to plains. Meteorologists are telling it the effect of the activity of Western Disturbance. People are waiting for the rain and snowfall to stop, but according to the Meteorological Department, there is no hope of getting relief till February 7. Rain and snowfall will continue in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Nainital, Mussoorie, Chakrata for the next few days.

According to the Meteorological Department, on February 6 and 8, due to the effect of another western disturbance, a change in the weather will be seen again. Cold-day condition may prevail at some places. There will be a yellow alert in the state for the next two-three days regarding this. There is a possibility of rain and snow in Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts till February 7.

Uttarakhand recorded 23.6 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Life was affected by rain on Friday. The condition of waterlogging continued in the roads. Munsiyari, Dhanaulti, Chakrata, Nainital, Mukteshwar, Mussoorie, Tehri, Loharkhet, Pithoragarh, Gangotri and Auli have received good snowfall. Many villages in Chamoli are wrapped in a blanket of snow. .

Apart from rain and snowfall, there is a possibility of frost in the mountainous areas. Moderate snowfall in areas above 2000 meters can block roads, so be careful while going on mountain treks. The people of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar will also have to be vigilant, because dense fog can remain here. The Meteorological Department has advised people not to travel in mountainous places for the time being. The district administration has been suggested to make necessary arrangements to open the snow-clad roads.
