Chardham Yatra 2022: Dates announced for reopening of Gangotri temple

The doors of the world famous Gangotri Dham will be opened on May 3 on the festival of Akshaya Tritiya. On Chaitra Navratri, the pilgrimage priests of Gangotri took out the auspicious time to open the doors of Gangotri temple for 2022. Suresh Semwal, Secretary, Gangotri Temple Committee said that the portals of Gangotri Dham will be opened for the devotees of the country and the world at 11:15 am on the Abhijeet Muhurta of Akshaya Tritiya festival.

On Saturday, the pilgrimage priests of Gangotri held a meeting at Ganga Dharamshala Uttarkashi on the occasion of Navratri. Seeing the Panchang, the pilgrimage priests decided the auspicious time to open the doors of Gangotri Dham. Gangotri Temple Committee President Harish Semwal said that on May 2, from Mukhba, the winter migration place of Ganga, Ganga Doli will leave for Gangotri at 12:15 pm. The procession will reach Bhairav ​​Ghati for night rest via Markandeya temple. The procession will leave for Gangotri Dham at 5:30 am on the morning of May 3. On reaching Gangotri Dham, there will be a program of Ganga Lahiri Path, Ganga Sahasranama Path, Ganga Havan and Ganga Aarti.

Along with this, the doors of Gangotri Dham will be opened on auspicious time. At the same time, the doors of Yamunotri Dham are also to be opened on Akshaya Tritiya on May 3. The auspicious time for the opening of the doors of Yamunotri Dham will be decided by the pilgrimage priests of Yamunotri on Yamuna Jayanti on April 7.
