Those aged above 18 to be eligible for precautionary dose after April 10

The Union Health Ministry on Friday said that from April 10, preventive doses of coronavirus vaccine for people above 18 years will be available at private immunization centres. The ministry said that those who are above 18 years of age and who have been given the second dose of the vaccine atleast nine months ago will be eligible for the precautionary dose at private immunization centres.

Along with this, the ministry also said that the first and second dose of vaccine for the eligible population and free vaccination is going on through government immunization centers for health workers, frontline workers and people above 60 years of age. The campaign will continue like this and its pace will also be accelerated.

New update on cowin portal also

Earlier it was told that people who have got the anti corona vaccine will now be able to correct the mistakes made in their vaccination certificate on the Cowin portal. Vikas Sheel, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Health, had said that in the new update, a facility will be provided in the Cowin portal by which inadvertent errors in name, year of birth and gender on vaccination certificates can be rectified.

The vaccination campaign started on 16 January 2021

The nationwide vaccination campaign was launched on January 16, 2021, in which healthcare workers were vaccinated in the first phase. The vaccination of frontline workers started from February 2 last year. The next phase of the COVID-19 vaccination began on March 1 last year with vaccines for people above 60 years of age and those aged 45 years and above.
India started vaccination for all people above 45 years of age from 1st April last year. Following this, the government decided to expand its vaccination campaign by allowing everyone over the age of 18 to be vaccinated against the viral disease from May 1 last year. The next phase of vaccination has started from January 3 this year for adolescents in the age group of 15-18 years.
