Virasat 2022 commences in Doon

Uttarakhand’s well-known cultural program ‘Virasat Art and Heritage Festival 2022’ was inaugurated with lamp lighting in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Stadium (Kaulagarh Road) in Dehradun. Dr. Alka Mittal, Managing Director ONGC, Guest of Honor, DGP Uttarakhand Ashok Kumar were present as the Chief Guest in the program. The program was conducted by RK Singh, General Secretary, REACH. In the same program, Dr. Alka Mittal was awarded Virasat Samman for her contribution towards heritage.

Dr. Alka Mittal began her speech with the strong and long association of Virasat and ONGC. She recalled her time here to participate in Virasat and thanked all the artists and artists for their immense contribution.

DGP Ashok Kumar appreciated Virasat and its members for organizing Virasat 2022 and doing a great job..

The cultural program began with the presentation of the specially choreographed “Praarat” by Anveshna Dance Theatre. Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Kalari Payattu and other dance performances of cultural heritage of India were given by Anveshna Dance Theater among other performances.

In this 15-day festival, stalls have also been set up by organizations from different provinces of India where you can enjoy the diversity of India. The main stalls that have been set up are stalls of different types of cuisines, handlooms and handicrafts from India, Afghan dry fruits, traditional crockery, Indian wooden crafts and bamboo crafts from Nagaland along with other stalls.

Virasat 2022 as part of its Silver Jubilee edition from 15th to 29th April 2022 with a confluence of events like Padma Bhushan Parveen Sultana, Ghazal singer Talat Aziz, Wadali Brothers, Kathak and Flute playing as well as photography competition.

REACH was established in 1995 in Dehradun, since then REACH has been organizing Heritage Festival in Dehradun. The aim is simply to preserve the values ​​of India’s art, culture and heritage and to bring these cultural values ​​to the masses. Virasat Mahotsav has been instrumental in reviving many rural arts which were on the verge of extinction due to lack of audience. Virasat has played an important role in preserving our village’s tradition, music, dance, craft, painting, sculpture, theatre, storytelling, traditional cuisine, etc. and in bringing it into the trend of modern times and due to this reason our classical and contemporary arts have been revived. Began to be recognized.

Virasat 2022 promises to mesmerize you and take you again on an unforgettable musical and cultural journey. The event is being held after a 2 year hiatus due to corona outbreak.
