Education board approves Rs 970 crore to upgrade IT infra; smart classes in schools in Uttarakhand

The Project Approval Board of the Union Ministry of Education has approved a budget of 970 crores for Uttarakhand in the current financial year 2022-23 in the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Under this, 22 thousand primary teachers of the state will be given tablets. 1124 smart classes and 940 ICT (Information Communication Technology) labs will be set up.

The Project Approval Board has given assurance of further increase in the approved budget of the Joint Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan for primary and secondary education. In particular, it has been agreed to provide financial assistance for the construction of 133 dilapidated school buildings. About 28 crores will be spent on their construction. Out of the approved budget of Rs 970 crore, tablets will be given to 22 thousand primary teachers. An amount of 10 thousand per tablet has been approved. The decision about whether teachers will get tablets or money will be given to buy tablets is to be taken by the state government.

16 thousand schools will get grant

In the new budget, approval has been given to start vocational education in 200 government secondary schools. Earlier it has been started in 200 schools. School grant, sports grant and library grant will be given to 16 thousand schools of the state. Apart from this, funds have also been approved under the National Education Policy of the Central Government and Nipun Bharat Yojana.

Free textbooks to more than six lakh students

6.59 lakh students will get free textbooks and uniforms. The state government has advocated for giving funds for textbooks and uniforms on the basis of the current student strength. This has also been agreed upon. In the current academic session, the number of students has increased by 1.25 lakh.
