Over 13000 corona cases found in India in last 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, 13,313 new patients have been found in the country. During this 38 patients died. The active cases are 83,990. According to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am on Thursday, the daily infection rate in the country is currently 2.03 percent. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has called a high-level review meeting today with the core team of experts regarding the rising number of cases.

Compared to Wednesday’s figures, the daily infection rate has come down from 3.94 per cent to 2.03. However, more new cases have been found today than yesterday. On Wednesday, 12,249 new corona patients were found, whereas, on Tuesday, 9,923 cases were reported. The death toll has also increased more than double compared to Wednesday. There were 13 deaths on Wednesday, while according to the data updated on Thursday morning, 38 deaths have occurred in the last 24 hours.

More than 1000 active cases in 10 states

The country has been witnessing an increase in corona virus infection in the last few weeks. 10 states Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal and Gujarat have more than 1,000 active cases.

Daily infection rate more than 10% in 43 districts

The weekly Covid infection rate is more than 10 percent in 43 districts of India, including 11 in Kerala, 6 in Mizoram and 5 in Maharashtra. Sources said that in 42 districts, which include 8 in Rajasthan, 5 in Delhi and 4 in Tamil Nadu, the weekly infection rate is between 5 and 10 per cent.

Omicron and its variants responsible

The directive was issued to investigate the possibility of any newly emerging variant or sub-variant and to find out the reasons behind the infection. According to experts from the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG), Omicron and its variants are mainly behind the current increase in BA.2 and BA.2.38 Covid cases. BA.2 and related viruses have been found in 85 percent of the cases, BA.2.38 has been found in 33 percent of the samples.
