Presidential elections 2022: NDA announces its candidate
Putting an end to all the speculations, NDA has made a big announcement of the name of Draupadi Murmu as the presidential candidate. She has previously been the Governor of Jharkhand.
BJP chief made announcement
Announcing Murmu’s name, BJP chief JP Nadda said that ‘for the first time, preference has been given to a woman tribal candidate. We declare Draupadi Murmu as NDA’s candidate for the upcoming Presidential election.’
Draupadi Murmu was born on 20 June 1958 in Baidaposi village of Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. Draupadi Murmu became the ninth governor of Jharkhand. Before becoming the governor, she was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Not only this, Draupadi Murmu is the first Governor of Jharkhand to complete a five-year term (2015-2021) since its formation in the year 2000.
