Delhi court orders death penalty to 4 Nirbhaya case convicts

The court has ordered the execution of the culprits in the Nirbhaya case on January 22 at 7 am. The court has given this ruling after hearing the death warrant. The court has fixed January 22 for hanging the culprits in this case. The execution time has also been fixed at 7 am. Earlier, during the hearing, there was some problem in video conferencing, which was fixed in a short time. The four convicts will be hanged in Tihar Jail No-3 of Delhi. Where the plank has been prepared, so that all four can be hanged together. Earlier, Afzal Guru was convicted for the Parliament attack in Tihar.

During the hearing, the parents of the victim had requested the court to issue a death warrant for the execution of the four convicts Akshay, Mukesh, Vinay and Pawan. At the same time, on behalf of the convicts, their lawyer AP Singh, said in the court that he is in the process of filing a curative petition in the Supreme Court.

14 days still available after death warrant

According to the information received, Nirbhaya’s lawyers demanded that the death warrant be issued, even after that there is a time of 14 days, till then the guilty can seek legal help. The Supreme Court has seen such an observation in many cases. Now this decision has arrived. At the same time, the guilty Mukesh’s mother cried in the court, while Nirbhaya’s mother said, “We have also been crying for many years.”

Tihar jail administration will also file a report

At the same time, the Tihar Jail Administration will also file a report in its hearing on Tuesday. On the instructions given by the court in the previous hearing, the jail administration gave seven days time to the convicts, so that they can file mercy petition against the death penalty.

The jail administration had issued the notice under Rule 837 of Delhi Jail Rules 2018. The administration had said that “if you have not filed mercy petition then you can file it before the President within seven days”.
