DGCA to conduct a technical investigation of the helicopter crash near Kedarnath

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will conduct a technical investigation of the helicopter that crashed near Garudchatti while returning from Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi. After the accident, an expert team of DGCA has left for the spot for investigation. Apart from this, the government has entrusted a magisterial inquiry to DM Rudraprayag to investigate the cause of the accident.

During Chardham Yatra, heli service operates from Guptkashi, Sirsi, Phata to Kedarnath Dham. In which shuttle service is run through nine aviation companies. For the technical investigation of the accident on Tuesday, the DGCA team has reached Uttarakhand from Delhi and left for the spot.

The technical fault in the engine of the helicopter or the dense fog due to bad weather in Kedar Ghati is said to be the reason for the accident, it will be investigated by a team of experts of DGCA. The reasons for the accident is also being investigated by the government through DM Rudraprayag. The helicopter had a capacity of seven seats. It can carry one pilot and 6 passengers at a time.

C Ravi Shankar, Additional Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA), said that based on preliminary information, bad weather is believed to be the cause of the accident.
