7 die in helicopter crash near Kedarnath; rescue mission on amidst snowfall

A helicopter crashed today near Kedarnath. Seven people including the pilot have died in the accident. Rescue work was done here amidst rain and snowfall. President Draupadi Murmu has also expressed grief over the accident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed grief over the accident.

CEO UCADA C Ravi Shankar informed that the accident happened at 11:40 am on Tuesday. Among the dead, three passengers are from Gujarat and three from Tamil Nadu. The DGCA and the Center will be entrusted with the investigation of the accident. Private heli service will be investigated.

Bodies of all the deceased recovered

At the same time, heli services have been halted in Kedarnath till further orders. The weather is still bad in Kedarnath. It is snowing here. Flames continued to rise from the debris even two hours after the accident. The bodies of the seven dead were recovered by the rescue team.

Seven people, including the pilot, were on board the helicopter. The helicopter crash happened about 3 km from Kedarnath. The helicopter had taken off from Kedarnath Base Camp for Guptkashi.
