Fresh snow spell in high altitude areas of Pithoragarh

The weather pattern has changed in the remote regions of Uttarakhand. It is snowing from Chiyalekh to Lipulekh in Vyas valley of Pithoragarh district. Gunji, the main stop of the Kailash Mansarevar Yatra, has received six inches of snow and it is still falling. Adi Kailash, Jeolingkong have also received around a foot of snowfall. The higher Himalayas at Darma valley also are covered by ice sheets.

On Friday, it rained in Gunji of Pithoragarh district at an altitude of 10500 feet and in Vyas Valley. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the next 24 hours in the Kumaon and Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued red alert in Kumaon region and orange alert in Garhwal region regarding this. After the warning of the Meteorological Department, the administration has also come into alert mode.
