National Games 2022: Gold for Uttarakhand’s Payal in race walk
On the fifth day of the National Games 2022 being held in Gujarat, a gold medal has come in Uttarakhand’s bag. Payal secured the first position in the women’s category in the 35 km walk race in athletics on Tuesday. While in the men’s section, Chandan won the bronze medal. This is a big achievement for the state.
Uttarakhand Athletics Association secretary JS Kalsi told that Payal, a resident of US Singh Nagar, learned athletics from Chandan Singh Negi at Sai Center Kashipur. For the past few years, she has been under coaching from Gurmeet Singh, a two-time Olympian from Uttarakhand, in Bengaluru. On the other hand, Chandan Singh got bronze medal in the men’s section of 35 kilometer race walk. This time he has played for the service team. Athletics coach Anup Bisht has congratulated both of them. Apart from the medals today, athletes from Uttarakhand have won 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.
