ICC World T20: Netherlands upset South Africa; India qualify for semi-finals
South Africa’s team has become a victim of upset in an important match against the Netherlands. The Netherlands won the match by defeating South Africa by 13 runs in their last match of Group 1. With this defeat, South Africa’s team is out of the tournament. On the other hand, the Indian team has benefited from it. The men in blue have reached the semi-finals of the tournament with 6 points. Team India has to play its last match against Zimbabwe, which will be played today.
South Africa had to score 159 runs to win their last match of the T20 World Cup 2022 Super-12 against the Netherlands. In response, South Africa’s team could score145 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and were thus out of contention for the semi-finals.
Earlier, the first two semi-finalists of the T20 World Cup have been decided from Group-1. England and New Zealand have entered the last-4. With India also qualifying for the semi-finals, it means that the match between Pakistan and Bangladesh is a virtual quarter-final with the winner becoming the fourth semifinalist.
