Uttarakhand weather update: Cold conditions prevail in the state

In Uttarakhand late on Saturday, the weather took a turn and there was snowfall in the higher regions. In Uttarkashi district, Harshil Valley including Gangotri Dham received snowfall on Saturday night. This is the first snowfall of the season in Harshil Valley. Minus 4 degree Celsius temperature was recorded in Harsil. The weather is clear around the district headquarters.

At the same time, clouds are hovering in the mountainous areas. Due to the cold winds, the chill has increased from the mountains to the plains. According to the Meteorological Center, there may be light rain and snowfall at some places in the state. Whereas, light fog may remain in the plains. A slight drop in temperature is also expected.

Light rain and snowfall may occur at some places in the state

After the weather remained dry in the state for a long time, now the chances of rain have started forming. Due to the activation of Western Disturbance, clouds are hovering at some places in the state. On Saturday, sunshine and cloud cover continued throughout the day in the surrounding areas including Doon.

According to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Centre, there is a possibility of change in the weather pattern in the state due to the activation of Western Disturbance. There may be light rain and snowfall in Chamoli-Pithoragarh and surrounding mountainous areas for the next two days. Along with this, there are chances of snowfall in the areas with a height of more than 3000 meters.
