Land sinking: Hotels dismantling continues, disaster management team reaches Joshimath

In the danger zone of disaster-hit Joshimath, the demolition work of two multi-storeyed buildings of Malari and Mount View hotels, which have become threatened due to land subsidence, continued for the third day on Sunday. The door frames of the upper floors of the hotels have been taken out.

The dismantling work of the hotel with hammer has started on Saturday. Both the hotels will be demolished in a phased manner over the next five days. The workers of the Public Works Department and the SDRF team are dismantling these hotels. After removing the windows and doors of the hotel as well as other items by the laborers, now the walls of the hotel are being taken down.

Disaster management team reached Joshimath

The disaster management team has reached to visit Joshimath area on Sunday. The team is headed by Secretary Disaster Management Dr. Sinha.

Cracks are also increasing continuously around the towers of Auli Ropeway. New cracks are developing in the buildings and the width of the old cracks is increasing which has increased the concerns of the administration.

The Supreme Court will hear the petition tomorrow

On the other hand, the Supreme Court will hear on Monday a petition seeking the court’s intervention to declare the crisis in Joshimath in Uttarakhand as a national disaster.
