India defeat New Zealand by 168 runs in 3rd T20I

The third and last match of the T20I series was played between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Batting first, India posted a mammoth score of 234 for 4 in 20 overs against New Zealand. Chasing the target, the entire New Zealand team got all out on a score of 66 runs. India won the series 2–1 by defeating them by 168 runs.

After winning the toss, Hardik decided to bat first. The decision seemed wrong after the early fall of Ishaan Kishan, but Rahul Tripathi and Shubman Gill continued to attack the opposition. Both continued to score fast runs. Rahul Tripathi played was dismissed for 44 off 22 balls.

Maiden T20I century for Shubman

At the same time, Shubman Gill handled one end and completed his first 50 runs in 35 balls while the next 50 runs were completed in just 19 balls. Shubman Gill remained unbeaten after scoring 126 runs off 63 balls scoring his maiden T20I century. Surya contributed 24 runs. At the same time, Captain Hardik Pandya played an inning of 30 runs. Bracewell, Tickner, Ish Sodhi and Mitchell got one wicket each. New Zealand had to score 235 runs to win the match and the series.

Chasing the target, New Zealand got off to a poor start. Allen’s wicket fell in the first over. After that in the second over, Arshdeep got the wickets of Chapman and Devon Conway. The Kiwis could not recover from the initial shock and were all out for 66 in 12.1 overs. Darryl Mitchell scored the highest 35 runs.

Captain Hardik Pandya took 4 wickets for 16 runs from India. Arshdeep, Umran Malik and Shivam Mavi got 2 wickets each.
