Delhi Capitals snatch win from Kings XI in Super Over

With one run to get of three balls it looked all but a formality for Kings XI Punjab to score their first win in IPL season 2020. But Delhi Capitals pacer Kagiso Rabada had other plans he dismissed set batsmen Mayank Agarwal (89) after bowling him a dot ball. This was followed by the wicket of Chris Jordan in the final ball of the second innings. With this the match was tied and the result was to be decided in the super over.

Kagiso Rabada kept his momentum in the Super Over as well allowing Kings XI to score a meager 2 runs claiming the wickets of KL Rahul and Nicolas Pooran.

Punjab have lost their first match after 3 seasons. At the same time, the hero of the Delhi team’s victory was Kagiso Rabada, who took 2 wickets for 2 runs in the super over.

Stoinis scored 53 runs

Delhi had a very poor start. The team had lost 3 wickets for 13 runs. After this, Rishabh Pant (31) and captain Shreyas Iyer (39) shared a 73-run partnership for the fourth wicket. In the end, Marcus Stoinis scored 53 runs off 21 balls to bring Delhi’s score to 157 for 8 wickets.

Chris Jordan conceded 30 runs in the last over of the first innings

Chris Jordan bowled the last over for Punjab. In this, Delhi scored 30 runs. Stoinis hit a six off the first ball of this over. The next ball was wide. After this, 3 fours were hit on 3 consecutive balls. Stoinis hit a brilliant six off the fifth ball of the over. Jordan bowled a no-ball at the last ball, but Stoinis was runout in the second run. Nortje scored 3 runs on the last ball of the over.

Shami has taken more than one wicket in the power-play for the first time in the IPL. In the match, he took 2 wickets in his 3 overs of the power-play. Overall, he took 3 wickets for 15 runs in 4 overs. In 42 innings last season, he took just 7 wickets in 80 overs of the power-play. Shami took 45 wickets in 53 matches so far in his IPL career.
