KL Rahul, Jadeja shine with the bat as India defeat Australia in 1st ODI

The first match of the three-match ODI series between India and Australia (IND vs AUS) was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In this match, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, all-rounder Hardik Pandya was leading the team. This was the first time in the ODI format, when Hardik Pandya appeared as captain. At the same time, instead of Australia’s regular captain Pat Cummins, batsman Steve Smith is captained the Aussies.

In this match, Team India captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl. This decision of the captain proved to be correct, as the Indian bowlers bundled out the visitors for 188 runs. Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj took 3-3 wickets. Jadeja got 2 wickets, who also forged a match winning partnershp with KL Rahul scoring an unbeaten 45 runs.

In response to 189 runs, India’s batting did not start well. After Ishaan Kishan, Virat Kohli and then Suryakumar Yadav got out early. Shubman became the victim of Starc. Hardik Pandya got out to a bouncer. KL Rahul scored a vital half century. He returned unbeaten after scoring 75 and Ravindra Jadeja scored 45 runs. Jadeja hit the winning shot and was adjudged man of the match.
