Uttarakhand weather update: Yellow alert for rain, hailstorm in the state

For the last 3 days, there is rain, snowfall and hailstorm at various places in Uttarakhand. After an unusually dry winter, the rains have returned in the state. Uttarakhand has been receiving intermittent rain and hailstorm for three consecutive days due to the active Western Disturbance. It is believed that rains will continue in Uttarakhand till 21st March. After 8 years, the rain in March has broken its record. Apart from this, the temperature has decreased by 10 degree Celsius.

Record rainfall was recorded in many areas including Dehradun-Nainital. While 70 mm of rain was recorded in Nainital, 38 mm of rain was recorded in Doon. Which is the highest rainfall in a day in March after the year 2015. Apart from this, there has been excessive rainfall at other places as well. Due to which the mercury dropped by eight to 10 degree Celsius in most of the areas and the chill returned once again.

There is a possibility of rain, snowfall and hailstorm in Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Tehri, Pauri and Bageshwar districts in the coming days. Apart from this, there may be thunder and lightning at some places. Due to incessant rains, the mercury in Dehradun has also dropped to 10 degree Celsius. Heavy fall in mercury has also been recorded in other areas. At present, a yellow alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department regarding rain, snowfall and hailstorm in Uttarakhand.
