Uttarakhand bypolls to be held on November 25

Assembly by-elections will be held on November 25 on three seats in West Bengal and one seat in Uttarakhand. The Election Commission announced this on Friday. By-elections in these two states were not conducted earlier at the request of the state governments. The by-elections were postponed due to local body elections in Uttarakhand and Durga Puja celebrations in the West Bengal government.

Notification for by-elections will be issued on October 30 for Pithoragarh seat in Uttarakhand and Kaliaganj, Karimpur and Kharagpur Sadar seats in West Bengal. The commission said that these seats will be voted on November 25 and counting of votes will take place on November 28. The by-elections were held on 21 October in two Lok Sabha and 51 seats in the assembly.

If necessary, a by-election will be held on December 5 on 15 assembly seats in Karnataka as the matter related to disqualification of MLAs is pending before the Supreme Court and a decision will be taken in the next few days.
