Meteorological Department expects monsoon to reach Kerala by June 4

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) gave good news on Friday. IMD’s Dr PS Pai said that this year’s monsoon will be normal despite El Nino conditions. It is not likely to reach Kerala before June 1. The Meteorological Department estimates that the monsoon will hit the Kerala coast on June 4.

Dr. DS Pai told a press conference on Friday that there is no possibility of any storm in the Arabian Sea next week. If it rains properly all over the country, it would be great. Agriculture will not be affected much.

Dr Pai said rainfall is expected to be 96% to 104% of the Long Period Average (LPA). As of now, less than normal rainfall is expected over North-West India. LPA is expected to remain at 92% during this period.

Less rain expected in 5 states

According to the IMD, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are expected to receive 92% of the rainfall during the entire monsoon i.e. below normal. Normal to above normal rainfall is expected in the remaining parts.
