New traffic plan to be implemented in Mussoorie on weekends to ease traffic woes

Police has made a new traffic plan for Mussoorie this weekend. Under this, one-way arrangement has been made in Mussoorie for the vehicles going to and coming to Kempty Fall. Vehicles going to Kempty Fall and Company Garden will be diverted via Spring Road from Library. Whereas, in return, these vehicle will return to Dehradun from Zero Point via George Everest.

Due to the peak of the tourism season, the situation of jam is arising in Mussoorie. Especially on weekends, people are facing the most trouble. In view of this, the police has issued a new traffic plan. Last week, there was a lot of protest against the traffic plan under which the vehicles were operated. Two days ago, Tourism Secretary C. Ravi Shankar himself went to Mussoorie. He held a meeting with the local people and public representatives regarding the traffic plan along with traders. After this the new plan was released for this weekend.

PWD and police officers along with the SDM conducted a joint inspection of the new route on Thursday. SDM Nandan Kumar told that after inspecting Company Garden, Kempty Fallroute, such places were identified where jam situation arises. Police will be stationed at these places. Along with this, officers were also instructed to make mutual coordination. CO Mussoorie Anil Joshi told that the tourists coming to Mussoorie who have bookings at Picture Palace, Landour Bazar, will be allowed to go directly.

SP-Traffic of Dehradun Akshay Konde said that there is a possibility of increase in the number of tourists in Mussoorie on weekends. In view of this, additional arrangements have been made in Dehradun as well. Additional force will be deployed at Kuthalgate, Sai Mandir Rajpur, Mussoorie Diversion and Sahasradhara, IT Park, Raipur Chowk. In case of heavy traffic on one route, vehicles will be diverted to another route.
