IMA passing out parade to be held tomorrow

The biannual passing out parade will be held on Saturday in the Indian Military Academy (IMA) amid impenetrable security. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will take the salute as a reviewing officer of the parade. He reached IMA on Friday evening. Guests and senior military officers from countries like Afghanistan, Bhutan, Tajikistan, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Nepal etc. will also be present during this period.

After the passing out parade, 377 Gentleman cadets will become part of the army of India and abroad. Of these, 306 young military officers will be part of the Indian Army. While 71 young military officers will form part of the army of ten Allied Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Bhutan, Mauritius, Lesotho, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Vietnam. After this, the pride of giving 62 thousand 139 young military officers to the army of India and abroad will be added to the name of Indian Military Academy. These include 2413 military officers from friendly countries.

In view of the POP, security around the academy has been tightened. Armed personnel of the Army deployed are guarding the security. While on the outskirts of the academy campus, security is with the Doon Police. Only pass holders are allowed to enter the academy campus. There will be a zero zone from Panditwadi to Premnagar during the passing out parade. Traffic passing through National Highway-72 (Chakrata Road) will remain fully diverted from Premnagar and Ballupur till noon.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh reached Jollygrant Airport on Friday evening, from where he left for Dehradun. The Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will join the passing out parade of the Indian Army and will take the salute of the parade as a reviewing officer.
