Online shopping facility to be available in CSD canteen
In Uttarakhand, there has been a major change in the rules for ex-servicemen to buy from military canteens. They can now buy grocery and liquor items by visiting any military unit canteen instead of CSD or their unit canteen. An option has been given to lift the quota of two months simultaneously in both the grocery and liquor categories.
The portal afd.csdindia.gov.in has been launched for canteen card holders to place orders for AFD-1 category items. Where they can shop online. Apart from this, the process of making new cards has also been simplified. Ex-servicemen have also been given the option of lifting the quota of 2 months simultaneously in both the grocery and liquor categories. Army Headquarters issued an amendment order on June 6 regarding purchase from the canteen.
On June 6, an amendment order was issued from the army headquarters regarding purchase from the canteen. Under this, there will be no compulsion for ex-servicemen and servicemen dependents to go to CSD or their unit canteen. The compulsion to renew the canteen card every year has also been done away with.
Even the process of making new cards has been simplified. Army Public Relations Officer-Dehradun Lt Col Manish Srivastava has confirmed the order to change the CSD rules.
They will be able to buy groceries up to Rs 3,500 from the canteen every month. Normal grocery and liquor cards will be issued from the training center to the newly appointed Agniveers after completing the training. Trainee officers will be able to buy groceries up to Rs 5,000 from CSD every month.

Ex-servicemen were also given relief in the limit for buying electric cars. The four-wheeler limit is fixed at Rs 20 lakh for military officers, Rs 10 lakh for junior commissioned officers and Rs 8 lakh for ranks below that. Category-wise military personnel who buy electric vehicles will get an additional limit of Rs 5 lakh.
