Rescue mission underway after another landslide in Shimla

Nature continues to wreak havoc in Shimla. Meanwhile, a heart-wrenching video has come to the fore from Shimla. The hill collapsed in Krishna Nagar area. About five to seven houses were turned to rubble in this landslide. Shimla SP Sanjeev Gandhi said that some houses have caved in due to heavy rains. Some people are feared to be trapped in the debris. Teams of ambulance, SDRF, NDRF, state and district police are present on the spot.

Himachal Pradesh’s ADG Law and Order Abhishek Trivedi said that ITBP, SDRF, District Police and all other teams are present on the spot. There is a lot of debris, because the debris fell from above on the Clutter House of the Municipal Corporation which has been completely demolished. People told us that cracks have already appeared in the area. Around 40-50 people were evacuated but around 5-10 people are believed to be trapped. Rescue operation is on.

 

At the same time, as per reports, cracks have appeared in the houses of the people living in Summerhill. A situation like Joshimath has arisen here. The foundation of many houses has become weak. In such a situation, people have left their homes and shifted elsewhere.

At the same time, the death toll in landslides in Summer Hill and Phagli has increased to 16 after two more bodies were recovered from the damaged Shiva temple on Tuesday. While so far the number of people who lost their lives in incidents like landslides, cloudbursts and house collapse due to heavy rains has increased to over 50. At the same time, in Shimla’s Summerhill and Phagli, more than 10 people are still feared to be buried under the debris.

Loss of more than 7 thousand crores so far

The UNESCO World Heritage Shimla-Kalka railway line in Himachal has been damaged. Traffic has been disrupted on 857 roads in 11 out of 12 districts in the state so far. 4,285 transformers and 889 water supply schemes have been disrupted. The State Emergency Operation Center has informed that Himachal Pradesh has suffered a loss of Rs 7,171 crore due to monsoon rains from June 22 to August 14.
