Uttarakhand weather update: Rain forecast for 8 districts

There is a possibility of heavy rains in eight districts of Uttarakhand on Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains for Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Chamoli and Bageshwar districts.

Heavy rain may occur at some places in other districts as well. According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, a yellow alert has been issued for heavy rains across the state till August 7. Center’s director Bikram Singh said, after August 5, there is a possibility of good rains in the entire state.

Ever since the onset of monsoon in the month of June, the frequent rains have been seen in the state. Today there is a possibility of heavy rains in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Chamoli, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar and Bageshwar. A yellow alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department regarding excessive rainfall. Heavy showers may occur in other districts as well.

Orange alert regarding heavy rain on Thursday

On the other hand, after bright sunshine in Doon since morning on Thursday, the weather suddenly changed in the evening and it rained heavily in most areas of the city, which provided immediate relief from the humidity and heat. On Thursday, the Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert regarding heavy rains in most areas of the state. However, it was sunny in most areas throughout the day.

Doon’s maximum temperature rose five degrees above normal on Thursday

Yesterday, due to the bright sunshine in Doon, the temperature had risen and heat was felt. The maximum temperature in the city was recorded five degrees Celsius above normal.

Around five o’clock in the evening, dark clouds covered most areas of the city and it rained heavily. It rained for about an hour and the rivers and streams of the city were in spate. There was light to moderate rainfall in the surrounding areas including Mussoorie.
