Indian men’s hockey team wins gold in Asian Games after 9 years

The Indian hockey team created a stir on Friday. The final match of hockey in the Asian Games was played between India and Japan. The Indian team, captained by Harmanpreet Singh, defeated Japan 5-1 and won the gold medal. With this, Team India also qualified for the Paris Olympics.

With the help of captain Harmanpreet Singh’s two goals, the Indian men’s hockey team won gold in the Asian Games by defeating defending champion Japan 5-1 in a one-sided final. With this he also qualified for the Paris Olympics. The bronze medalist team of Tokyo Olympics has won the gold medal in the Asian Games after 9 years.

Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored 2 goals for India (32nd and 59th minutes). Apart from them, Abhishek (48th minute), Amit Rohidas (36th) and Manpreet Singh (25th) scored goals. The only goal for Japan was scored by S. Tanaka in the 51st minute. Both teams played excellent defense in the first quarter. India got a penalty corner in the 15th minute but Amit Rohidas’s flick went straight in front of the Japan goalkeeper. In the second quarter, the Indians continued to attack and got the benefit in the form of a penalty corner in the third minute, but this time also Rohidas missed the target.
