Bhutan announces 7 day nation wide lockdown

The Prime Minister of Bhutan has announced the second phase of lockdown across the country. This lockdown will last for seven days. Along with this, many types of restrictions have been implemented. Bhutan has taken this step in view of the new threat of Coronavirus.

Bhutan’s Prime Minister Lotay Tshering announced this today to impose a second lockdown in the country. The lockdown will be implemented from Wednesday, December 23. Giving this information through tweet, PM Bhutan said that nationwide lockdown will be implemented for seven days from tomorrow ie 23 December 2020. The inter-district ban imposed this morning will remain in force. The National Covid-19 Taskforce has decided that more drastic action is needed.

 

Bhutan is one of the countries with the least corona cases. Bhutan distanced itself from the Corona pandemic. When countries around the world had reached the second stage of Corona, the lockdown was applied for the first time in Bhutan. That too for only 5 days.

On 11 August, a letter was issued from the Prime Minister’s Office of Bhutan announcing a 5-day lockdown in Bhutan.

Two days ago a woman was found to be corona positive. The lockdown was imposed in the capital after new patients were found in Thimphu. Now it has been announced all over the country.
