Virat Kohli named ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year

India’s star batsman Virat Kohli has been chosen ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year 2023. Along with Virat, India’s Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami and New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell were also in the race for this award. Virat has received this award for the fourth time. Earlier, he had also become ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2012, 2017 and 2018. World champion Australia captain Pat Cummins became the Cricketer of the Year.

Scored 1377 runs in 27 ODIs

Virat scored 1377 runs in 27 ODI matches in the year 2023. This included 6 centuries and 8 half-centuries. Apart from this, he also took 1 wicket and took 12 catches.

Player of the tournament in ODI World Cup

From the end of 2019 to August 2022, Virat Kohli was not able to score a century in any format of international cricket. But, in 2023 his bat spoke loudly. Last year, he also batted well in the ODI World Cup held in India and scored 765 runs in 11 innings. For this he was also chosen Player of the Tournament.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently announced the ODI Team of the Year for 2023. Captain Rohit Sharma, who took India to the ODI World Cup final, was made the captain of the team. Team India’s star cricketer Suryakumar Yadav was elected ICC Men’s T20 Player of the Year for the second consecutive time. ICC had announced this a few days ago. Yadav was also honored with the award for the year 2022.
