Turmoil in Congress in Almora over Nagar Palika elections

After the announcement of candidate in the Congress for the post of municipal chairman, there has been turmoil amongst the members of Congress in Almora. Many activists, including four office bearers, have resigned from their post. State Secretary Trilochan Joshi has also left the primary membership. All have announced their resignation on social media. This has rattled the organization. Congress nominees have expressed resentment on giving tickets to Prakash Joshi for the post of President in Almora Council. Presidency office secretary Trilochan Joshi, Congress spokesman Sati and Manoj Sanwal resigned from their post. Senior Congressman and State Spokesperson Sati told that he has sent his resignation to PCC chief Pritam Singh by mail. At the same time, State Secretary Trilochan Joshi said that he will contest the Independent election. Senior Congress Vice President Manoj Sanwal resigned in the social media expressing resentment. District General Secretary Pankaj Verma also said that he has resigned from the post.

He said, “I am extremely disappointed by the decision of the Congress leadership. So I have resigned from the post of District Vice President. Now I can enroll as an Independent Candidate. There are not two or three people remaining in Almora for the president and the legislator. In such a way, when will the workers will be respected”.

Trilochan Joshi Regional Secretary said, “There were five people in the panel. In it four people had given in writing that the president’s ticket should be given to a new person. State leadership has ignored us. So I resigned from my post. I will decide soon to contest the elections.”
