Light to Moderate Rain Across Uttarakhand Today, Heavy Showers Likely in Hills
Cloud cover persists across Uttarakhand, extending from the mountains to the plains. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for Monday (August 03), predicting light to moderate rainfall across most parts of the state, with heavy rain expected in several districts. However, the spell of heavy rainfall has paused over the past two days, with only isolated heavy showers recorded.
On Sunday, most areas of the state remained partly cloudy throughout the day, while isolated heavy showers were recorded in some mountainous regions. Rainfall activity is expected to intensify over the coming days. In Dehradun, the weather saw a mix of sunshine and clouds, with heavy showers occurring in the Hathibarkala area.
Dense cloud cover prevailed in other areas as well by the evening. According to the Meteorological Centre, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in most districts of the state on Monday. The department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for the districts of Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar.
Isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in these regions. Additionally, intense to very intense spells of rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, are possible in the mountainous districts. Warnings regarding thunderstorms and lightning have also been issued for the Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts.
