Heavy rain causes devastation in Dehradun’s Sahastradhara area

The difficulties due to monsoon rain are not stopping. Cloudburst was reported in Sahasradhara’s Karligaad area on Monday midnight amid yellow alert for heavy rain. Heavy damage was also reported from Maldevta area of Dehradun.

Incessant rains battered the city throughout the night. The rains wreaked such havoc that roads, culverts, hotels, resorts and shops were hit by debris. People came out of their houses in panic. The administration has asked the people living on the river bank to go to a safe place.
Amid heavy rain at around 1 o’clock in the night, a landslide occurred on Sahasradhara-Salona road. Rainwater and debris came on the road. People woke up and came out of their houses due to debris entering the houses. SDRF and fire teams left for the spot.
The work of removing debris was started with JCB in the night itself. On the other hand, a landslide occurred near the water band below Kolhu Khet on the Mussoorie Dehradun road late night. This has led to a queue of vehicles on both sides of the road.
