IMA POP 2020 to be held on 13 June

The impact of coronavirus (Covid-19) infection will also be seen in the passing out parade at the Indian Military Academy this time. The grandeur of the POP that happens every six months will not be seen this time.

In view of the Corona outbreak, the IMA management has decided to limit the size of POPs to be held on 13 June. This time the guests of the country and abroad along with the family of the cadets will not be present during the parade.

The Corona virus has posed a challenge to the IMA management regarding the passing out parade in June. Around 882 Gentleman Cadets from India and abroad are to be passed out by attending the POP. At present, the management of the academy is in a dilemma due to the circumstances that have arisen due to Corona.

The POP, held every six months, is attended by parents from abroad as well as relatives of the cadets, relatives as well as guests from other countries. But according to the guide line of the Ministry of Health, Government of India, people cannot gather in large numbers anywhere.

The academy management is in a dilemma about POP preparations. It is believed that the format of the passing out parade to be held at the IMA this time may not be grand, but limited to rituals, if the Covid-19 escalation does not stop in the next one or two weeks.

Advisory of Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Health will be followed

IMA’s PRO Colonel Amit Dagar said that the advisory issued by the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Health in the POP will be fully followed. The IMA’s parade will be limited due to Corona.

Cadets’ families and other guests will not be able to participate in the event this time. However, the parade will be the same as before. It is noteworthy that in the Indian Military Academy, pre-military training is provided to the country as well as to the Gentleman Cadets of the allied countries.
