Kempty falls in spate after heavy downpour in Mussoorie

The weather took a turn in Uttarakhand. Heavy rains in Mussoorie on Sunday (May 4) created a surge of water in Kempty falls. During heavy rains on Sunday in the area the falls took the form of a raging torrent. Tourists were alarmed to see the stream of water falling from the mountain in the form of a heavy flow. Along with the strong current of water, debris and stones flowed from the waterfall into the lake. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of bad weather in the state till May 8.
As per reports there was heavy rain in the Kempty area on Sunday afternoon. Due to this, Kempty Falls overflowed around three o’clock in the afternoon. A large amount of mountain debris and stones started falling down with a strong current. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the police administration stopped tourists from going to Kempty Falls.
Debris accumulated in the lake. Not only this, water also entered three-four shops. Due to the debris, the Tyuni-Maletha highway was also blocked for some time. However, no major damage has been reported.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain bad in Uttarakhand till May 8. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for rain with thunder and stormy winds in various parts of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Dehradun, Pauri Garhwal, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar districts of the state during the next 12 hours. Hail may also fall at some places. During this time, the wind speed can be seen up to 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
