‘Red Alert’ for heavy rain in Dehradun: All schools and Anganwadi centers to remain closed on July 10

The administration in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, is on alert mode following a ‘Red Alert’ issued by the Meteorological Department predicting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
In the interest of student safety, District Administration has declared a one-day holiday for all schools and Anganwadi centers in Dehradun district for tomorrow, July 10, 2026 (Friday).
Applicability of the Order
According to the order issued, the following institutions within the Dehradun district will remain completely closed on July 10:
- Government schools (Classes 1 to 12).
- Government-aided schools (Classes 1 to 12).
- Private schools (Classes 1 to 12).
- All Anganwadi centers.
The administration has directed all school managements to strictly comply with this order.

Warning Issued by the Meteorological Department
According to forecasts by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the National Disaster Alert Portal, there is a likelihood of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Dehradun district on Friday.
Additionally, a warning (Red Alert) has been issued regarding intense downpours and lightning strikes.
The administration has also appealed to the general public to avoid unnecessary travel and to refrain from going near rivers and streams in light of the heavy rainfall alert. Disaster management teams have been instructed to remain on alert around the clock.
