Schools in Dehradun district to remain closed on 31 July after rain alert

It rained in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand today as well. On the other hand, light drizzle in the plains increased the humidity. There is a possibility of heavy rain in most of the districts of the state for two days. The Meteorological Center has issued a red alert for rain in Tehri, Nainital, Pauri, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat including Dehradun on Wednesday. As a result the district administration of Dehradun has declared a holiday in all public and private schools from class 1 to 12 on July 31, 2024.

Apart from this, warnings of several rounds of heavy rain have been issued in other districts as well. Director of Meteorological Center Bikram Singh said, there are chances of heavy rain on 31st July and 1st August. While giving instructions, he said, avoid travelling in hilly districts during this time. Apart from this, be alert during day as well as night in landslide and sensitive areas. DM Vandana Singh has issued instructions to the disaster control department and all machinery to remain on alert.
