Schools in Dehradun district to remain closed on September 12 due to heavy rain alert

According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, a red alert for heavy rain has been issued in Dehradun district on September 12 and 13. During heavy rains in many areas of the district, the possibility of landslides increases at sensitive places. To prevent any untoward incident, a one-day holiday has been declared on Thursday, September 12 in all educational institutions and Anganwadi centers operating from class 1 to 12 in Dehradun district. Schools and Anganwadi centers from class 1 to 12 will also remain closed in Chamoli district.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday in seven districts including Dehradun. In view of the red alert in these districts, the State Disaster Management Authority has instructed the District Magistrates to remain on alert.

Director of Meteorological Center Bikram Singh said that heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted in Dehradun, Pauri, Bageshwar, Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar for Thursday and Friday. In view of this, the Disaster Management Department has instructed all departments to remain on alert and complete all preparations in time.
