Unlock 5: Gandhi Park opened for public after six months
After six months between the Corona period, Gandhi Park was opened to the public from Thursday. However masks and social distancing have to be followed. People are being given entry in the park only after thermal screening. After the park opened, people arrived there for the morning walk. Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama also reached the park to meet the people.
Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama inspected the park and directed the officials to open the park from Thursday. He aslo made sanitization and fogging mandatory in the park. Mayor Gama said that initially it would be opened as a trial daily from five to eight o’clock in the morning.
Some days after seeing the situation, entry will be given in the park in the evening. Gandhi Park – which is the largest green area in the city was closed in the last week of March due to the Corona lockdown. On the instructions of the Mayor, the work of cleaning the park was going on for the past one week. Instructions have been given to install two guards at the park gate to oversee sanitizer machine.
Open gym and children park will remain closed
Mayor Gama said that only people walking the morning will be able to go to Gandhi Park. The Open Gym and Children’s Park will not be started yet. Both of these will be started only when the situation is normal.
Musical fountain ready
The musical fountain in Gandhi Park is ready. Patriotic songs will be played along with Garhwali-Kumaoni songs in the musical fountain set up under the Amrit scheme. The fountain and music will attract people amidst colorful lights.
Its trial has been successful. Under the Amrit Yojana, Gandhi Park has been beautified at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore. On Wednesday, Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama inspected the musical fountain.
