Uttarakhand Super League 2016 opening ceremony at Pavilion Ground
The inauguration of first edition of the Uttarakhand Super League 2016 will take place on 9th July at Pavilion ground. The event will witness the presence of India’s renowned international and national football players like Manish Maithani, Raja Rawat and Anirudh Thapa. Tomorrow onwards, watch for 58 most exciting matches of USL. There will be huge excitement for sports in the state.
Manish, was signed by Mohun Bagan and made his first–league debut against Viva Kerala, where he scored a goal in his five minute stay as a substitute.
In Under-23 side he helped his team to win SAFF Cup and give a good performance in Asian games, where India qualified for the knockout stage for the first time since 1982. He has also earned a senior cap in a friendly match against Azerbaijan in 2012. Manish Maithani moved to Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimares B team after the completion of Indian super League 2014.
Manish Miathani is a star Icon for Uttarakhand Super League to inspire and motivate the players.
Young and talented footballer Raja Rawat has been selected for the All India Football Fedration’s (AIFF) elite under -19 academy. Raja is one of the most talented footballers in the Indian junior football in the current scenario. This Dehraun boy has represented India in the AFC Cup (Uzbekistan), SAF Cup in Kathmandu and AFC main round (Tehran).
Chamoli Bugyals player Raja Rawat said, “USL is a good platform for players to demonstrate their skills. This will make players more aware. Earlier players didn’t even knew about the Indian camp, but through interaction and exposure at USL they will be able to explore more opportunities and choose wisely”
Rawat, is the third Dehradun boy to get selected in the AIFF’s regional academy. Earlier, Anirudh Thapa and Dependra Negi were selected for AIFF under 16 academies.
Anirudh Thapa from Dehradun joined the AIFF academy in Kalyani in 2012. In 2013, Thapa helped his team win the SAFF U16 Championship. He also Participated in the AFC U16 Championship where he scored once in four appearances.
The attacking midfielder went to Malaysia to compete in the Asia U16 Championship 2014. In 2015, Thapa was was the youngest member selected to be part of the India U19 squad who were
runners-up in SAFF U19 Championship. Thapa scored twice in four matches in the competition.
Raja Rawat and Anirudh Thapa used to practice at Pavilion Ground, Dehradun under the guidance of VS Rawat, now the Director of USL.
