Weather update 27 Feb: Temperature drops in Doon after rain

For the first time in winter, a sharp drop in temperature was recorded due to continuous rain for two days. Talking about Dehradun, a difference of 12.3 degrees was seen in the maximum temperature in the last 24 hours.
On Wednesday (February 26), the maximum temperature here was recorded at 29.0 degrees. Whereas, on Thursday (February 27), it was recorded at 16.7 degrees, eight degrees below normal. Meteorologists say that for the first time in the season, the western disturbance has become active with such strength. Due to this, the temperature has dropped due to rain and snowfall.
Director of Meteorological Center Bikram Singh said, due to the western disturbance, there is heavy snowfall in the high altitude areas of the hilly districts and continuous rain in the plains. This is the first such rain of the season, which is happening continuously.
As per the forecast there is a possibility of rain in most areas of Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pauri, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital and Champawat districts on Friday as well.
While, there is a possibility of snowfall in places with an altitude of 2800 meters and above in these districts. The center has issued a yellow alert for snowfall and hailstorm in areas with an altitude of more than 3500 meters and heavy rain in some places. However, the weather is expected to clear up across the state after March 1.
