Plane going from Azerbaijan to Russia crashes in Kazakhstan

A passenger plane crashed in Aktau, Kazakhstan on Wednesday morning. According to news agency Reuters, there were 62 passengers and 5 crew members in the plane. Of these, 28 people have been rescued. 22 have been admitted to the hospital. Among the injured are 2 children whose condition is critical.

39 people are feared dead in the accident. The plane was going from Azerbaijan to Grozny, the capital of Russia’s Chechnya province, but it had to make an emergency landing about 3 km from the Kazakh city of Aktau.

According to agencies, the flight route was changed due to dense fog. The plane had made several rounds of the airport before crashing. The pilot had also sought permission for emergency landing.

However, later he was forced to make an emergency landing on the beach near the airport. The crashed plane was an Embraer 190 model of Azerbaijan Airlines. The video going viral on social media shows that the plane caught fire as soon as it crashed.

Kazakhstan’s Transport Ministry says that they will conduct a special investigation of this accident. Technical problems can also be the reason for the crash. At the same time, according to Russian media reports, this accident happened due to collision with a flock of birds. According to Kazakhstan’s Emergency Ministry, a total of 52 rescue teams and 11 rescue equipment have been sent to the accident site.
